Adenomyosis

Adenomyosis is a gynecological condition in which tissue similar to the uterine lining grows into the muscular wall of the uterus. This can cause the uterus to become enlarged and may lead to painful, heavy, or prolonged menstrual periods.

Common symptoms include severe menstrual cramps, heavy menstrual bleeding, chronic pelvic pain, abdominal pressure, and discomfort during intercourse. Some women may have mild symptoms or remain asymptomatic.

Diagnosis is based on medical history, pelvic examination, and imaging techniques such as ultrasound or MRI when required.

Treatment depends on symptom severity, age, overall health, and future pregnancy plans. Management may include pain-relieving medications, hormonal treatment, and surgical options for women with severe symptoms who do not respond to conservative treatment.
