Common concerns during adolescence include irregular or delayed periods, heavy menstrual bleeding, severe period pain, PCOS, acne or excessive hair growth related to hormonal imbalance, abnormal vaginal discharge, and concerns about normal pubertal development.

While some menstrual irregularity can occur during the first few years after periods begin, persistent, very heavy, excessively painful, or prolonged menstrual problems may require medical evaluation. Assessment typically includes a detailed medical and menstrual history, general examination, and blood tests or ultrasound when clinically appropriate.
