Infertility Due to
Adenomyosis

Adenomyosis occurs when tissue similar to the uterine lining is present within the muscular wall of the uterus. Although not every woman with adenomyosis experiences infertility, the condition may affect fertility and pregnancy outcomes in some patients.

Adenomyosis may alter the uterine environment and potentially interfere with implantation. It may also coexist with endometriosis or uterine fibroids. Common symptoms include heavy menstrual bleeding, severe period pain, chronic pelvic discomfort, and an enlarged or tender uterus.

Diagnosis is generally based on clinical evaluation and imaging, particularly transvaginal ultrasound or MRI when required.

Management is individualized according to age, symptoms, extent of disease, fertility history, and pregnancy plans. Treatment may include medical management, fertility-directed care, or uterus-preserving surgical approaches in carefully selected cases.
