Placenta Previa

Placenta previa is a pregnancy condition in which the placenta partially or completely covers the opening of the cervix. It may cause painless vaginal bleeding, particularly during the second half of pregnancy, and requires careful medical supervision.

Risk factors may include previous caesarean delivery, uterine surgery, multiple pregnancy, advanced maternal age, and previous placenta previa. Diagnosis is primarily made through ultrasound examination.

Management depends on the location of the placenta, severity of bleeding, gestational age, and health of the mother and baby. Regular monitoring, activity modification when advised, emergency planning, and carefully planned delivery are essential for reducing complications.
