Start Before You Conceive
Planning your pregnancy with proper nutrition, health screening, and prenatal care leads to better outcomes for both mother and baby. A preconception visit lets your doctor identify and optimize health conditions before pregnancy begins.
This includes reviewing your menstrual history, vaccinations, medications, thyroid and blood sugar status, and starting folic acid — ideally three months before conception.
Build Healthy Foundations
A balanced diet, healthy body weight, regular moderate exercise, and quitting smoking and alcohol all measurably improve fertility and pregnancy outcomes.
If you have conditions like PCOS, thyroid disorders, diabetes, or hypertension, bringing them under control before pregnancy dramatically reduces risks later.
Know When to Seek Help
If you have been trying to conceive for over a year — or six months if you are over 35 — a fertility evaluation is appropriate. Many causes of difficulty conceiving are identifiable and treatable.
Once pregnant, begin antenatal care early. The first trimester sets the stage for everything that follows.
The healthiest pregnancies begin before conception — preparation is the first gift you give your baby.
